The GSC Coaching Staff is dedicated to the procurement of young athletes in the sport of swimming. Our ultimate goal is to focus swimmers towards competition at Olympic Trials and/or College Swimming.
Taking over as head coach of GSC in the fall of 2005, Coach Casey has been with the GSC program for six years, serving as Head Assistant, then Head Age Group and now Head Coach. Coach Casey has seen the team flourish from 85 swimmers in 2003 to a team that is consistently close to 200 swimmers every season.
Coach Casey stresses personal accountability, time management, and an arduous work ethic with all of his swimmers. Structure, progression, and adaptation are also staples in his swimming philosophy, which dictates the overall goals and mindset of the GSC.
Coach Casey has coached world ranked, nationally ranked, and state ranked swimmers over the past 6 years. In 2009, Coach Casey saw GSC pickup its first ever individual national title when Lauren Perdue swam to gold in the 200 meter freestyle at the Junior National Championships.
For the 2008-09 Season (2008 Long course season and 2009 Short course season), Coach Casey was awarded the North Carolina Senior State Coach of the Year. During that season, Coach Casey's swimmers swam to seven state records, a top 15 finish at USA Junior Nationals, a top 10 finish at Southeastern Sectionals, and a top 8 finish at North Carolina State Championships.
As a swimmer, Coach Casey enjoyed success throughout his 18 year career in which he set over 50 club team and 10 high school records in West Palm Beach, FL. As a result of his success, Coach Casey was awarded a scholarship to swim for East Carolina University where he helped his team to runner-up finishes during the 2001, 2002, and 2003 Conference Championships. During the 2000-2001 season Coach Casey was awarded the Rookie of the Year award for the teams top performer as a freshman. A former C-USA record holder, Coach Casey still holds an ECU varsity record in the 800 Freestyle relay. Coach Casey holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Master's Degree in High School English. He is currently an English Teacher at an area high school.

In 2001, Coach Scott helped start a year-round swim team in Washington with only 4 swimmers which quickly grew to well over 50. In 2002, the independent team merged with the GSC and would operate as a satellite program. Coach Scott continues to run the successful satellite program; however, the accomplishments of his swimmers in Washington helped him secure a position coaching in Greenville as well in 2005. He was soon promoted to Head Age Group Coach and the coach of the newly formed National Prep Group. In the past few years, Coach Scott's swimmers have set multiple team records, placed very high in state competition including several state and sectional titles, and also achieving national top-16 times.
Coach Scott's love for the sport stemmed from his successful swimming career in High School where he set Washington High School Records in both the 50 and 100 freestyles. He has a passion for helping kids reach their potential in both swimming and life. In addition to his role with GSC, Coach Scott teaches Physical Education at the Washington Montessori School . He resides in Washington with his wife Emily and their daughter Elli.
Coach Scott continues to run groups Bronze, Silver, Gold, and National Prep in Washington, as well as the National Prep group in Greenville.
